Help:Quire templates

Quire has a few templates of its own. They work anywhere you can edit: articles, user pages and talk pages. Each one below shows the markup and, under it, the result live.

Templates take values after a pipe (|). Values can hold links, italics and bold, but never raw HTML or styles: Quire sets the look, so every page stays readable in light and dark mode.

Key facts#

An at-a-glance card for the top of an article: Quire's answer to the infobox. Each line is a label and a value. Put it at the very top, before the first paragraph.

Optional: title (defaults to the page name), subtitle, note. Every other line becomes a row, in the order you write them.

Timeline#

A vertical, dated timeline. Write each entry as date = event. On phones it narrows without losing the dates.

Dates are text, so c. 3000 BC or March 2024 work too. A date can only appear once; for two events on the same date, write them in one entry.

Compare#

A side-by-side table of two to four things, with every row lined up. List the things in items, then one row per line, with the values separated by semicolons in the same order.

Badges#

Badges are Quire's userboxes: small labels for your user page. Pick the words, a tone and, if you like, an icon.

Earned badges#

Some badges can't be written by hand: they come from what a person has actually done here. They only show on a user page if its owner puts First edit 3-day Paths streak somewhere on it, as small chips right where the template sits. Nothing is added to a user page on its own; the full list and your progress live on Special:Badges.

The badges you can earn:

First edit, 10 edits and 100 edits, counted from their saved edits.
3-day, 7-day and 30-day Paths streak, for solving the daily Quire Paths puzzle that many days in a row (their best run counts).
Finished a reading list, for marking every article read in a reading list of three or more.

Note, Tip and Spoiler#

Plain asides in one quiet style: a soft grey panel with a thin hairline border, a small label and nothing coloured. A spoiler stays folded until the reader clicks Show.
