Quire pages are written in a small, readable markup. Everything below works in the editor, and the preview beside it updates as you type.
Text#
- italic gives italic, bold gives bold.
- A blank line starts a new paragraph.
- == Section == and === Subsection === make headings; the contents list builds itself.
- Lines starting with * make a bulleted list, # a numbered list.
Links#
- Earth links to another article; our planet changes the link text.
- A link to an article that does not exist yet shows in red, and following it lets you start that article.
- Example links outside Quire.
- files the page in a category.
Citations#
Put a source right after the sentence it supports: . Name it to reuse it: , then . The numbered list of references is added at the end of the page, or wherever you place reflist.
Infobox#

Images#
. Images must come from Wikimedia Commons.
Talk pages and signatures#
Every article has a Talk page for discussion. End a comment with four tildes (~~~~) to sign it with your name and the time.
Other#
- Article and A add a note under a heading.
- #REDIRECT Target as the whole page makes it a redirect.
- Tables use the familiar {| … |} syntax.
- Quire's own templates (key facts, timelines, comparisons, badges, callouts) are on Help:Quire templates.
